Marketing & Communication Associate 2023-24

We are seeking the right individual to serve as GAC's Marketing and Communications Associate at our Norcross, GA location and to support our Mission, which is:  To help each student grow as Jesus did, in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man.

Our Marketing and Communications Office handles all strategic marketing and communications used to inform students, faculty, staff, parents, the larger community, alumni, the media, and the public about the GAC experience.  The Marketing and Communications Associate will be an integral member of the team that is responsible for building brand awareness and brand loyalty through powerful storytelling across all platforms.  This fulltime twelve-month position reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications.

The essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Multimedia Content Creation and Social Media Management

  • Create multi-media content including photo, video, reels, stories, graphics, etc for organic and paid social media for Greater Atlanta Christian School
  • Take and edit photos and/or videos for a variety of marketing purposes including social media, website, and marketing materials
  • Develop social media strategy and implement best practices

Writing and Developing Content for Marketing Material 

  • Research topics, gather testimonials, and conduct interviews to develop clear, compelling marketing copy to promote GAC.  Writing will include copy for GAC's annual magazine, social media, website, email newsletters and campaigns, print ads, landing pages, email marketing workflows, student and faculty profiles, and more 
  • Submitt work to the editor for input and approval; engage in a collaborative work process; proofread and edit content before publication
  • Write in tone and style appropriate for GAC; maintain GAC brand voice in all communications
  • Coordinate with Marketing Team and designer to illustrate written materials for GAC, providing feedback as necessary 

Website Management / Digital Marketing

  • Implement digital marketing strategies such as social media ads and Google ads
  • Along with other Marketing Team members, maintain GAC website, updating content and creating new pages when necessary
  • Assist with website redesign
  • Understand and utilize web best practices and analytics
  • Using SEO guidelines, develop content that helps to increase web traffic
  • Provide analytics for the performance of GAC’s marketing activities

General Duties

  • Keep a pulse of upcoming events in order to promote and document these events on social media, the website, or other publications
  • Stay current on marketing trends, contributing this knowledge to the team
  • Contribute creative ideas to the team and translate them into impactful initiatives
  • Identify customers’ needs and gaps in our content and recommend new topics
  • Demonstrating a desire for Christ-like relationships by engaging in full campus life with colleagues, parents, and students

Role Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Willing to work occasional nights or weekends to document school events
  • Strong writing skills with a portfolio (will be asked for sample writing, social media and marketing material samples)
  • Photography and/or videography expertise preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Mac, social media platforms, Photoshop or Lightroom, content management systems, customer relationship management tools (like Hubspot), project management systems (like Basecamp), email service providers, HTML, and other emerging technology 
  • Knowledge of AP style and impeccable spelling and grammar
  • A thoughtful individual with a deep understanding of marketing and a passion for reaching target audiences with the right messages
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Great research, organizational, interpersonal, and learning skills
  • Solid grasp of design principles with an ability to understand and identify good design 
  • Familiarity with marketing analytics, including web analytics
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to take projects from idea to completion
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal clients and to work cross-functionally across departments to achieve organizational goals
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
  • Strong team player, creative contributor, self-starter, and active collaborator who demonstrates initiative and flexibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience
  • Or, an equivalent combination of formal education and experience
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills using American English; impeccable editorial and proofreading skills
  • Previous experience at an educational or not-for-profit organization s a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to be stationary for prolonged periods at a desk, sometimes while working on a computer
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other office machinery
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to position self to maintain files in lower and higher drawers in cabinets
  • Must be able to read written or electronic documents with or without correction
  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas in English so others will understand; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Must be able to traverse between office buildings/facilities on campus

  • Successful background check, reference checking, and drug screening clearance
