After School Coordinator

We are seeking a dynamic, engaging individual that will be responsible for providing support for up to 25 students daily after school with a weekly time commitment of 15-20 hours plus an additional two-hour weekly planning and two-hour monthly staff meeting.  The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, personable, energetic individual who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and reflects a positive, service-oriented personality.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily supervision, care, and mentorship of up to 25 students during the Encore Kids (Before/After School) Program hours (approximately three to four hours daily Monday through Friday.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain a balance of program activities.
  • Monitor and maintain program materials, facilities, and guidelines - including behavioral.
  • Track and report daily attendance.
  • Assist with and serve snacks to the students daily.
  • Help clean and maintain the Encore Kids (Before/After School) Program areas.
  • Develop reports and/or provide information as required by the program director.
  • Role model positive leadership and supervision.
  • Mentor and/or assist students, including purchasing needs.
  • Provide first aid and/or CPR to students, as needed.
  • Contribute on an ongoing basis to the overall program development.
  • Participate in staff meetings and campus-wide activities, e.g., registration day.
  • Perform other related work as needed.

Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • A minimum of a high school degree or equivalent business-related experience is required; a two-year degree or equivalent business-related experience is preferred;
  • First aid and CPR certification are required.

Experience:

  • Relevant experience;
  • Before/After School Program environment experience for grades K-3 and higher in an educational institution is preferred.

Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, and organizational skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; desired proficiency in Education Edge;
  • Convey a dynamic, energetic, patient, and nurturing spirit with passion and skill to actively and positively engage students;
  • Flexibility;
  • Work in a highly demanding environment;
  • Demonstrate initiative with the self-motivation and drive to ensure successful program implementation and management;
  • Exercise judgment and maintain confidential information;
  • Possesses a deep spiritual commitment and personifies the GAC mission.

  • Successful background check, reference checking, and drug/alcohol screening clearance;

Physical Demands:

  • Lift and carry children (up to 50 lbs.), including kneeling, bending, stooping, stretching, twisting, reaching out, or squatting to interact with children;
  • Using fingers and hands to manipulate small objects;
  • Running short distances;
  • Sitting on the floor;
  • Moving arms and legs quickly;
  • Coordinating movement of several parts of the body such as arms and legs, while the body is moving.
